How it works
Shrinkflation is when a product quietly gets smaller while the price stays the same. Shrinkproof Deals looks for the opposite: products where you now get more for the same money, or the same for less.
The rule
Every product is compared with its own baseline: its previous package size, or its typical recent price. We compute the unit price (per 100 g, per 100 mL or per item) before and now:
Value score = (baseline unit price ÷ current unit price) − 1
A deal is listed only when the value score is at least 10% and the package is not smaller than before.
Kinds of deals
- Reverse shrinkflation - the package grew and the price didn't.
- Bonus size - "25% more free" at the regular price.
- Bigger pack, lower unit price - the larger size costs less per unit.
- Price drop - same product, same size, lower price.
Where deals come from
Some are found automatically from retailer and affiliate price feeds; others are submitted by readers. Every one is reviewed by a person before it appears here.
